Adopt An Animal

Adoption Process

  1. Apply: Complete our adoption application. Please provide as much information as you can about your family, other pets, activity level, and why you want to adopt a rescued dog or cat. This will help us determine which animal is best suited for your family.

  1. Introduction: You will be emailed shortly after your application is received, usually within 3-5 days. Please read this email carefully since it includes important information about our adoption process.

  1. Email the Foster Parent: If you see an animal that you think is a match for your family please email the foster parent (whose email link is at the bottom of the dog’s website page) and the foster parent will review your adoption application and answer any questions you have about the dog.

  1. Interview and Home Visit: If the foster parent believes you are a potential match for their foster dog, the next step is a phone interview and home visit. Home visits will typically be done by one of our local volunteers. Home visits are required before a dog leaves our rescue program.

  1. Meet & Greet: We highly recommend a meet-and-greet with the dog before adoption. If you have another dog it is critical the dogs meet prior to adoption to ensure they are compatible.

  1. Contract: If the foster parent has determined you are the perfect match, they will give you an adoption agreement to review and sign. If you do not agree to the stipulations in the contract we cannot adopt an animal to you. The contract protects you, the animal and our rescue.

*Please note that adoptions are at our sole discretion and we reserve the right to deny anyone the ability to adopt an animal from our rescue program for any reason.

  1. Fee: Our adoption fee is $375 for adult dogs (altered puppies, less than a year old, are $475; unaltered puppies are $575 with a $100 reimbursement once the puppy is altered) . Our adoption fees are used to cover spay/neutering, vaccinations, heartworm and fecal checked, monthly heartworm/flea & tick preventative meds and microchips for all dogs in rescue. Occasionally, a dog requires special vet care while in our program. We will provide you with the dog’s veterinary records so you will be fully informed of any known medical conditions.

  1. We love to get periodic updates and photos of our rescues. They all have a special place in our hearts. If you would like to share a story and photos, please email us.
